The staff were very helpful when I needed them and had no hesitation in upgrading us to another room free of charge. The breakfast as excellent with a very good vegetarian choice. The location was very central with most pubs and restaurants within walking distance.

No designated parking spaces. The televison channels were very restrictive

      Location

Several breakfast items not available. Room upgrade not available. Very mediocre food

The reception staff and the two ladies serving breakfast each day where attentive, pleasant and very friendly. The reception staff where kind enough to help my husband organise flowers and champange for the room as it was our wedding anniversary. We stayed in the Tower room which had excellent views. One of the reception staff also phoned around to book us a table restuarant for the saturday night.

There where two things that let the hotel down. The first being the staff that where on duty the night we ate in the hotel restuarant. We sat down at a table as there where no staff in the dining area when we first went in and then we had to sit for about 10mins before anyone approached us. The service in general was very poor and the noise and loud talking from the kitchen drowned out any conversation we tried to have. The second thing, which is outwith the hotels responisbility, was the noise from the peope coming out of the pub across the street. We were kept awake until 3.30 both mornings with very loud talking from the street below. If you are a couple and have been able to get a weekend away from the children, a good night sleep is one of the things you look forward to. Unfortunately this is something we did not get and this is the main reason we would not recommend this hotel. However the other couple we where with stayed in a room at the other side of the building and did not get disturbed from the noice.

We chose the hotel because we stay in the area often and like the easy atmosphere. We eat in the bar even if we are not staying at the hotel. Staff always friendly.

found everything about the hotel to our satisfaction.

only downside was the t/v was very high and found it uncomfortable to watch.

We stayed for a murder mystery weekend, which was staged very well. The tapas Bar ajoining the hotel was very good

We think the standard of the food was compromised due to the theamed weekend, avarage at best, but overall reasonable value for money

Super location; pleasant, helpful staff; comfort; good value

not easy to park close by;difficulty in knowing where available parking was located; late night noise on Argyll St, it being Saturday

It was very convenient for the town centre and ferry. The food in the Rio restaurant was very good.

No official parking for the hotel but to be fair there was plenty of street parking available at the time we stayed there. I would love to see fresh fruit on the breakfast menu.

    • Single

Very good value for money. Single room was small but well appointed, very clean and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely!

My room overlooked the main street which was quite noisy in the early hours so probably not ideal if you like being early to bed.

    • Couple
      6.2

Great location and we had probably the best room in the hotel in terms of views, double aspect both with sea views!

You get what you pay for and it wasn't expensive, but the hotel really does look a bit run down and shabby, particularly in the public areas.

    • Group of friends
      8.2

Cleanliness, breakfast and location but the last also had a downside.

The kebab shop which was open to the wee small hours with hordes of loud, drunk people.

    • Couple

The Argyll has a unique charm - have stayed a couple of times now and would still stay again. Staff are helpful - rooms are clean and comfortable - Rio restaurant is v good and also a good breakfast was served too.

If anything - I would suggest that you ask for a room with a view over the Clyde - rather than over looking the high street - it's worth it.

Very friendly hotel with great views of the Firth of Clyde. Would recommend it and will definately be back.
